LÄRABAR

larabar

LÄRABAR quickly became my favorite on the go bar as soon as I tasted them. They are made of high quality simple ingredients that hit you with amazing flavor.

They keep their ingredient list to a minimum and I can assure you that you will recognize all of them. They most recently came out with 3 new flavors: Peanutbutter and Jelly, Tropical Fruit Tart, and German Chocolate Cake. I was lucky enough to find the first two at my local health food store and pushed any and everyone out of the way to make sure I left with some in my shopping bag!

The Peanutbutter and Jelly LÄRABAR brought back memories of my favorite school lunch. Peanuts, dates, cherries, and salt make up the ingredient list and the flavor was spot on.
The Tropical Fruit Tart jumped up to one of my favorite flavors. The ingredient list was dates, pineapple, unsweetened coconut, almonds, extra virgin coconut oil, cashews, orange juice concentrate, orange peel. It was like a tropical party in my mouth. I am a huge fan of coconuts and the addition of the fruity flavors made it even better.

LÄRABAR knows how to reach their customer and keep them satisfied. You know i’ll be on the lookout for the new German Chocolate Cake now! I need to review them all right?!

Amazing Grass’ Green SuperFood: Chocolate Drink Powder

chocosuperscoopI had the pleasure of trying out Amazing Grass’ Green SuperFood: Chocolate Drink Powder. Gone are the days when I would drink Carnation Instant Breakfast shakes. The Amazing Grass website describes the powder as:

“A full spectrum of alkalizing green superfoods, antioxidant rich fruits, and support herbs unite with organic Acai, Maca and Cacao to provide a powerful dose of whole food nutrition with a delicious dark chocolate taste. Complete with pre & probiotics and digestive enzymes to ensure rapid nutrient absorption and healthy digestion.
Chocolate Green SuperFood: All natural and organic ingredients include organic wheat grass, organic barley grass, organic alfalfa, organic spirulina, organic spinach, organic chlorella (cracked cell-wall), organic broccoli, organic dutch cocoa, organic redwood cocoa, organic cacao, natural chocolate flavoring, organic acai from Sambazon, organic maca, organic carrot, organic beet, raspberry, organic rose hips, pineapple, green tea, acerola cherry, organic flax seed powder, organic oat fiber, apple pectin fiber, F.O.S. (from chicory root), L. acidophilus, alpha and beta amylase, protease, lipase, lactase, cellulase, siberian eleuthero root, peppermint and organic sea salt. 100% Vegan.”

Look at that ingredient list. Nothing but nutrient dense ingredients to help give you achieve your 5 to 9 daily recommended servings of fruits and vegetables.

You can mix a scoop with water, milk, or add it into smoothies. When added with soy milk or almond milk this reminds me of chocolate milk. It has an earthy taste to it but the cacao is prominent. I also love adding it to my morning smoothies. A frozen banana, a scoop of Chocolate Green Superfood Drink Powder, some milk and ice and you’ve got yourself a healthy breakfast smoothie that your tastebuds will thank you for. It gives you an energy burst so you don’t even need your daily cup of coffee. A serving size is 1 scoop (8 g) and has 30 calories and 1 g of fat. They recommend 1-3 servings daily.

There’s never been a tastier way to get your daily dose of greens.

Take A Fit Vacation In Jamaica At The Couples Swept Away Resort!

2009-07-17_231631

About a week ago I was heading to the gorgeous island of Jamaica to teach fitness classes for a week at the all-inclusive Couples Swept Away Resort. Judging from the photo gallery from the resorts website, the resort looked beautiful, but it was even more amazing in person.

If you’re a fitness enthusiast who works out even on vacation, but dread going to the resort’s fitness facility that usually involves a couple of treadmills and weight machines in a white walled room, The Couples Swept Away fitness facility will blow your mind!

I never been to a resort that had a whole fitness facility on site – and when I say whole fitness facility I mean, they have a HUGE studio where fitness classes are held twice daily. There are cardio groove classes, spin classes, body pumping classes, yoga, pilates and of course reggae abs classes.

There’s also a weight machine room that is open (no windows or doors), a lap pool where aquacize classes are held or you could do just laps, tennis courts, squash courts and a pool table.

There’s also a guest tennis instructor each week that teaches tennis lessons. So whether you want to play on your own or learn how-to play, the choice is yours.

The fitness facility also has a health bar which has declicious fresh fruit smoothies, granola bar snacks, and fresh fruit infused water (and I don’t mean bottled!). They also serve coffee, water and other health drinks.

Near the health bar is a lounge area where the sports channel is constantly on, so for those men…or women, who want to keep up to date on their sports, can. There are also locker rooms with saunas and steam rooms for both men and women.

I’m telling you, if you and a loved one are looking for the perfect getaway, but must workout – this is the place! Even if you don’t workout, the resort is all-inclusive and is just amazing.

The couple staying next to our room told us they extended their stay because they loved it so much.

Also, become a fan of their fitness club on Facebook, Couples Swept Away Fitness Club.
