Kettlebell: A Total Body Workout
Posted by admin in Fitness & Exercises, Misc., Wellness on February 20th, 2009

If you’ve been going to the gym lately, you’ve probably seen a group fitness class called Kettlebell on the schedule. It’s becoming one of the hottest fitnesss crazes, getting your body into it’s best shape ever! Why, you ask? Its weight is centered below the handle, so when you swing it, nearly every muscle in your body has to work hard to counteract the momentum.
Kettlebell is usually done only with the supervision of a fitness instructor or personal trainer – proper form is a MUST in doing these exercises. However, Missy Beaver, a L.A. trainer, created a twice-weekly routine for Women’s Health magazine readers, that can be done in your own home. (click here for the routines)
Do the moves in succession, resting for 30 to 60 seconds after each one, then repeat the circuit two more times. Opt for a light weight (6 to 10 pounds) and don’t up it until you can do the moves with perfect form.

Sexy Abs In No Time!
Posted by admin in Fitness & Exercises, Misc., Wellness on January 8th, 2009
Abs are a common trouble spot, and it seems unless you’re willing to dopainful crunches 500 times a day it’s almost impossible to get flatabs. According to trainer and Creative Director at Equinox Fitness in New York City, Lashaun Dale, says these toning moves will have you with a slimmer stomach in no time!
Standard crunches work the rectus abdominis, the sheet of muscle between the ribs and pelvis, but to truly sculpt your abs, it’s key to engage your entire torso.
She tells Self Magazine,
The plan Perform one or two sets of the indicated reps three to five times a week. Combine them with calorie-burning cardio and we promise you’ll never have to suck it in again!
Technique tip Abdominal exercises shouldn’t be a pain in the neck (literally). To avoid the ache, place the tip of your tongue firmly on the roof of your mouth behind your front teeth. “When you anchor your tongue, it brings your head and neck into better alignment and prevents your neck from overworking,” Dale explains.
